update

Okay... so I haven't exactly been updating this blog of mine. But to be fair, I am not technically ON peaceboat yet. It leaves in April. And if you are smart and cool you'd be checking out my other blog with the new entries on my fabulous trip to Thailand last week (( meribon.blogspot.com))

Peacboat activities update
1. For all the losers who didn't come to the party last month, you really missed out! The place was packed and we were able to raise way over the set goal - woo hoo! A lot of my friends showed to which I am greatful. arigatou...
2. Today I start my first day as a pre-departure volunteer at the PB center. I will be working with one other teacher and four interperters on the 53rd cruise planning pre-departure events and English classes etc... For every hour of work we put in we get money towards the Japanese bar that is onbaord the ship - which is good because I don't think I could stand for 3 months without my lemon sours.
3. Lastly, each of the teachers for the 53rd (about 16 of us!) were assigned a port to research on possible sightseeing and activities. I was assigned the port of CATANIA, SICILY and did a little net searching last night. Did you know that at the base of Catania is a volcano Mt. Etna and it is the longest active volcano in the world?! You can hike up to the top, as long as it is not erupting and spewing lava, which seems to happen quite frequently. It reminded me of my last Peaceboat cruise 3 years ago when a volcano was erupting as we pulled into the port at Papua New Guinea - kinda crazy! Everyone was rushing to the deck to take photos, including me.

Well, I guess that is all for now. I need to get back to real work. peace.

Party in Shibooooooya

Some peeps from Peaceboat are throwing a benefit party to raise money for a few good NGOs, and I have signed on to help out. If you are in the TOKYO area on the 18th of February please come and chill with us! I have heard some samples of music of the scheduled DJs and it is incredible - you don't want to miss it!
